Better Health Makes Better Students
Clean water has produced better health and therefore better education. The number of students who pass their examination has increased by 3% at the Primary and 15% at the Secondary school.
The school population and number of teachers has increased also due to clean drinking water. The porridge provided for the children midday is now made with clean water — the students do not have to spend precious school time walking the 5 km in search of clean water. (There are no streams in the village; the ground water contains over 7% fluoride. This cannot serve as drinking water as it causes illness.)
Each student has been provided his or her own drinking cup.
The Barry A Murphy Fund also purchased two smaller holding tanks.
